Cell phone can make and receive calls over a radio frequency, while the user is moving within a telephone service area. 

Today's mobile phones are more commonly called “smartphones” because of all of the extra voice and data services that they offer.

 

A cellular network is a communication network where the link to and from end nodes is wireless.

Major telecommunications providers have deployed voice and data cellular networks over most of the inhabited land area of Earth.

Cell phone contains at least one antenna to transmit or receive radio signals. 

A cell phone typically transmits and receives signals in the frequency range of 0.9 to 3 GHz. 

Antenna acts as a transducer. It converts the incoming electromagnetic wave into an electrical signal on the receiver side and the outgoing electrical signal into an electromagnetic wave on the transmitter side. 

Commonly used antennas in the mobile phone are of various types such as helix type, planar inverted F type, whip or patch type. 

 

RF communications incorporate a transmitter and a receiver. 

RF modules are typically fabricated using CMOS technology.

 

RX filter is the part of a cell phone which filters the frequency of mobile phones during incoming calls.

 

RF transmitter module is capable of transmitting a radio wave and modulating that wave to carry data.

The RF amplifiers handle signals traveling to and from the antenna.

The Power amplifier is used to amplify, boost up the radio frequency signal before it feeds to the antenna during transmission.

 

The antenna switch, it switches the RX frequency signal and TX frequency signal during transmission process. 

 

The analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog conversion chips translate the outgoing audio signal from analog to digital and the incoming signal from digital back to analog.

 

When electron accelerates, energy is radiated away in the form of electromagnetic waves.

This is how electromagnetic waves are produced.

 

Electrons move within an antenna to radiate photons.

 

In transmission, the transmitter supplies an electric current to the antenna's terminals, and the antenna radiates the energy from the current as electromagnetic waves.

In reception, an antenna intercepts electromagnetic waves in order to produce an electric current at its terminals that is applied to a receiver to be amplified.

 

In transmission electrons move in the antenna to radiate photons.

In reception, photons move electrons in the antenna.
