At CERN, electrons and positrons were accelerated to energies of 100 GeV. For such particles, v = 0.999 999 999 95c and γ is 200,000.
Electron–positron annihilation occurs when an electron and a positron collide
At low energy two photons are created, each with energy equal to the rest energy of the electron or positron (0.511 MeV).
At energies beyond the mass of the carriers of the weak force, the W and Z bosons are produced.
The heaviest particle pairs yet produced by electron–positron annihilation in particle accelerators are W+ and W- pairs.
On 9 July 1996, shortly after LEP's energy had been increased to 161 GeV per beam, just enough to make the mass of the pair of W particles.
How all the scientists around the world do understand particle collision?

Here is an example: James Beacham is a post-doctoral researcher with The Ohio State University, based full-time at CERN, where he is a member of the ATLAS Experiment collaboration, one of the two teams that discovered the Higgs boson in 2012.
